Boy with aging disorder granted a wish
Fun outdoors is a kid’s paradise. But for one 3-year-old boy, an aging disorder prevented him from being able to be play in the sun; that’s until he was granted a wish. Knox Clay has a condition called Cockayne Syndrome, a severe form of premature aging where his body is aging several times faster than normal. The disorder also causes a severe sensitivity to the sun’s UV rays even with sunscreen. For the Clay’s, every moment with Knox counts, which is why they contacted the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Their wish for Knox was that he could one day be able to play in their backyard with his three siblings. The General Motors Information Technology Center in Austin provided the funds for the Clay’s backyard transformation while Matt Sitra Custom Homes constructed the shade covering. The finished product was a newly constructed back patio awning with fans, lights, and a swing for Knox.
